New Connection to the Public Sewerage System
An Applicant must call in person at any WMA office to fill in an application form. The following documents in support of the application need to be produced at time of application:
   
  National Identity Card
  Recent CWA Bill
  Title Deed (if Applicant not owner of land, Authorisation from Owner and his NIC should be produced.)
  Building Construction Permit
 
A connection may take 6 to 9 months to be completed. An acknowledgement receipt is issued to you upon application. Connection for domestic premises is free of charge.
 
Cesspool Emptying Service
The WMA operates a fleet of 5 cesspool emptiers to carry out maintenance of the wastewater systems and to provide targeted urgent service to ex CHA Housing Estates, schools, hospitals and Ministries as well as to religious institutions.
 
The general public needs to contact private cesspool emptying operators for similar services. Please contact the Customer Care Unit or our sub offices (Port Louis, Lower Plaines Wilhems & Upper Plaines Wilhems) for a list of private operators providing cesspool emptying services.
 
Notary Sewerage Clearance
For Notary Sewerage Clearance in respect of transfer and sale of properties, call at the Customer Care Unit and produce latest Municipal Tax receipt and Wastewater Tax receipt. Where an investigation becomes necessary, the clearance can be issued within 15 days.
 
Building Sewerage Clearance
For the Building sewerage clearance you must deposit 2 sets of Building Plan to:
 
  Port-Louis Sewerage office for buildings in Port-Louis and in the northern parts of the island
  Beau-Bassin sewerage office for buildings in Upper and Lower Plaines Wilhems and Southern parts of the island
 
An acknowledgement receipt will be issued upon deposit and Clearance will be issued within 15 days.
 
Issue and Renewal of Licences to private Cesspool Emptying Operators
The WMA, under the Wastewater (Registration of Wastewater Carriers and Disposal of Wastewater) Regulations 2006, also issues licences to private operators to enable them provide cesspool emptying services. 

To apply for a permit, please call at Customer Care Unit for filling of necessary application form. or the permit. The following documents in support of the application need to be produced at time of application:
  National Identity Card
  Horse Power certificate of the relevant vehicle
  Vehicle Fitness certificate
  Vehicle permit for wastewater carrier
  Recommendation letter on behalf of company employing the relevant wastewater carrier (optional)
 
Our officer will contact you to inspect the carrier within 10 days. Upon satisfaction al all required criteria, a permit will be issued within another 10 days. The annual fee for a permit is Rs. 5,000.
 
A list of authorized private operators is available at any of the WMA offices.
 

Call at the Customer Care Unit for renewal of permit 15 days prior to its expiry date.

 
Industrial Effluent Discharge Permit
To be issued with an Industrial Effluent Discharge Permit, an application needs to be made at the Pollution Control Unit. Our officers will visit your industrial premises, liaise with you for any related information and necessary tests will be carried out.

Permit for Industrial Effluent Discharge can be issued within 3 months. A Fee of Rs 500 is chargeable and permit remains valid for 3 years from the date of issue.

Any submission requiring an on-site wastewater disposal facility is dealt within 15 days.
